A bit busy today!

tmt_busy.png

It seems we’re a little bit busy today, with lots of traffic. And whilst lots of people are signing up, treasuremytext might be a little slow, or potentially not available for a few minutes. If you experience any problems please try a little later on. We’re doing our best to fix up any issues and to optimize the site so it can handle the load!

Timetravel on Treasuremytext

tmt_timechange.png

Setting the date of messages is now possible on Treasuremytext (we’ve just added the ability for you to change the timestamp and reset the time and date on your messages). So instead of displaying when you saved a message you can change it to display when you received a message.

This is a long awaited feature for many of our users who like to build up an accurate archive of their texting activities. So those archived messages announcing a birth, wishing you a happy valentine’s or a happy new year - can now all be set to the right date and time!

Treasuremytext in Stockholm

We’ve been busy at the Communication & Mobile Applications Forum in Stockholm meeting mobile industry people, developers and VCs.

The Forum, organised by Europe Unlimited has been a great networking event for us and of course its nice to visit Sweden for the first time. Highlights include hearing from:
Aqua Mobile “print to web technologies”
Trippo “Translation on the move”
Rebtel “Low cost international mobile calls”
Squace “Accessing your stuff via your phone, easily”
What a Map “Mobilize your maps!”
GEM “Outdoor Interactive Multimedia System” (Way Cool, we like them a lot!)
Small Planet “Mobile Marketplace Management”

The format of the event was conference / discussion sessions plus presentations and after a little coaching we presented Treasuremytext and won the award for the best presentation in our group. Cool huh!

Promo Video

Oooh, a new promo film for Treasuremytext!
We’ve been lucky enough to work with ICDC (The International Centre for Digital Content) recently, and they’ve created a new promo movie for Treasuremytext. It’s inspired by messages sent to the SMS service. Some (but not all) are mine. The one about the food processor is one of mine - a message from my sister.

Treasuremytext will be at Telco 2.0 this Thursday (17th April). Telco 2.0 is running an executive brainstorm for Telco types! And Treasuremytext will be at the demo event at the conference.

The demo element is organised by the nice people at mashup* event. Telco 2.0 runs a great blog all about the Telecoms world here at: www.telco2.net/blog where you can read abut us and the other mobile 2.0 services who are also demoing at the event.

We’ll be looking forward to hooking up with the people from Phonefromhere who we know from several North West startup 2.0 related events and the other demoers. As well as meeting other demoers:

Update your status on your Wordpress Blog by SMS

kerim_blog_update2.png

Kerim Satirli just suggested a great idea for adding status updates to a Wordpress blog using Treasuremytext and the KB Advanced RSS Widget.

Why would you want to do this?

  • Because sometimes a SMS is easier than writing a whole blog post!
  • Because you want to update on the move!
  • Because you’re a very very social person!

It’s better than….
As Kerim points out people can also use Twitter or Pownce to do this but for some of us in Europe, sending an SMS to Treasuremytext’s Dutch or UK number is cheaper than texting other service (or potentially free depending on your network / plan).

How it works

  • Download this great Wordpress plugin
  • Upload to your Wordpress plugins directory
  • Enable and configure
  • Start texting!

Thanks Kerim, and more ‘Treasuremytext extensibility ideas’ coming soon.

Treasuremytext SMS by RSS: operational and addictive

Happy to announce that our feeds are back and fully functional at Treasuremytext. Use them for entertainment, information, lifestreaming or just plain voyeurism!

We’ve got a global feed of everything public sent to Treasuremytext (makes for some fun reading)! We’ve also got feeds on TextStreams so you can follow your favorite Treasuremytexters! If you follow a TextSTream you can also choose to receive updates via email, or via SMS, or just add as a favorite.

Some of our favorite TextStreams today are:

Gisele Marie: Pretty in Pink

kingkongblog.png

It’s been busy at Treasuremytext over the last few days and as news of our service spreads through blogland it’s lovely to see a unique take on technology writing! Came across this yesterday: it’s a review of Treasuremytext over on king.kong the gadget and tech monkey blog.

Originality is not dead!  We’re loving king kong’s style:

“i have been smsing the lady monkeys for sometime now, and its totally tmth (too much to handle) with all the ladies i am trying to keep track and having to delete my messages of constant fear of a girl getting hold of my phone, but the pimps over at treasuremytext have come up with the perfect solution! a online storage place for all your text messages which can be organized in many different ways to maximize sms functionality and use!”

thanks a bunch from the ‘pimps at treasuremytext

RSS feeds not working today. Sorry! :(

The RSS feeds are not working today. We disabled them when we found they were generally slowing things down disproportionately. So the site’s working OK even with a rather nice increase in traffic following a few lovely blog posts, but RSS isn’t. Hope to have that back up and running very soon.

Er, and… on Mobile Messaging 2.0

mm2.png

Thanks to the fabulous Imran Ali, Treasuremytext has been featured on the Mobile Messaging 2.0 blog. I first met Imran at Barcamp Manchester recently. Imran’s written a great write up of the background to Treasuremytext, and raised some key questions for its future development which we will answer soon. (Data portability, and the ‘open mobile’ question being key issues.)
