Added benefits for use with Treasuremytext:

  • Messages appear in Treasuremytext with the original date sent
  • Messages appear in Treasuremytext in the right date order

To install, use Cydia; you’ll find us under “T”! More info on the app, and installation instructions here.  The app works for iPhone 2G and 3G with 2.0 software and superseeds the original Treasuremytext for iPhone app. This app does require a jailbreak. For more info on why we can only make this app work for jailbroken iPhone read this post

This is a first sneak preview so if you do find any bugs please let us know over at Get Satisfaction.

Enjoy!

Great app! Is there a way to do a mass upload of all text messages? It would be great if the app could tell which text messages are already online in my account, so I don’t have to go in and manually delete duplicates. Or does this functionality already exist, and I’m just not seeing it? thanks for all of your hard work!

No, that isn’t supported yet. Mostly because of two reasons:

    * First, indeed: you wouldn’t want it to upload the ones you already have and then have to go delete those. TMT itself currently doesn’t have a way to check that.
    * Second (slightly less important), there’s no multi-message upload function, which would be quite a lot more efficient than calling the same upload function once for every message.

    hey folks,

the interface is quite nice but i really do miss one function that would be kinda killer argument for your service: sending sms via treasuremytext.. are you guys planning to implement that kind of thing in the short term?

Not just yet in the short term as Apple don’t let anyone make apps that do stuff with SMS! And it;s unlikely they’ll allow people to make SMS apps that make sending SMS cheaper than through their carriers.

However there is an app called Bite SMS available on jailbroken iPhones via Cydia that might do what you’re looking for!
